General Aid

Samaritan's Purse is an international aid charity and as well as the many projects featured on this website, we have a policy of sending out general aid, otherwise known as Gifts in Kind, all year round. Volumes vary but can range between 6 to 12 truckloads a year, primarily to Eastern European countries.

The general aid is sent out on the request of our overseas partners and we ensure that the aid is sent to fulfil a specific need. These needs do change but you can find out more by contacting us via the “Contact us” part of this website.

Here is a general guideline for the sort of things that our overseas partners can use.

  • New Clothes (Second-hand outer garment clothes are only accepted if they are almost new, have been washed and packaged in a protective bag. We cannot accept any second hand under garments)
  • New Shoes
  • New bedding items such as sheets, duvets and blankets. (We can accept second hand materials in large quantities where they are almost new, have been washed and packaged in a protective bag.)
  • Educational items such as paper, pens, crayons and craft materials.
  • New or almost new toys.
  • Educational equipment (desks and chairs), Domestic equipment and some furniture items are useful for specific projects but please provide full details first so we can evaluate the opportunity.
  • Basic medical equipment is very useful for the hospitals our partners are involved with but not liquids, serums, medicines, injections or similar specialist preparations.
  • Technical equipment suitable for micro-enterprise projects such as Knitting Machines, Computers and Tools.
  • Catering equipment.
  • We only take larger quantities of staple, dried foods (e.g.. pasta, rice and sugar) with at least 6 months life at the point of receipt, against specific partner requests.
