Shoe Box Sunday
Celebration
Many churches have found that Operation Christmas Child really does build great links with their community. As a celebration and a way to really engage with everyone involved in the project, many churches hold a Shoe Box Sunday Celebration at the end of their campaign. Churches have found that this is not only a great way to celebrate the end of a successful campaign, but that many people who would not normally come to church will bring their boxes and their family along to a shoe box service.
This celebration provides a wonderful opportunity to invite everyone from your church and wider community to bring their wrapped up boxes to church for a time of praise, prayer and thanksgiving. Don't forget to invite a local school choir or a drama group to take part in the service.
The resources listed are for you to use in your church when you hold your Shoe Box Sunday Celebration. You will be able to tailor your service to your own congregation. We hope you find the resources and ideas helpful!
