Daniel and Vera Kuranji, Samaritan's Purse's partners in Serbia , visited an orphanage close to the Romanian border to deliver gift filled boxes from the UK .
There were over a hundred smiling faces waiting in expectation for the boxes to arrive. Children were overjoyed to see the visitors and thrilled that they have come such a long way just to see them. Some children could not wait to rip the paper from their boxes, while others tried to make the moment last longer by holding on to their boxes and watching other open theirs first.
Kiki, a boy who was referred from another orphanage that Daniel and Vera visited on a previous occassion, was thrilled to see that they still remember him. When he opened his box, he was delighted with all the different toys that were so carefully packed by someone in the UK!
It is an overwhelming experience to watch children open their boxes, their excitement and joy is so genuine. They could not stop thanking the team!
Daniel and Vera also visited a very poor area in Novi Sad , Serbia . Hundreds of gypsy children patiently lined up to receive a shoe box filled with surprises. Some of the children did not have shoes on in freezing weather. Their laughter and excitement at receiving the gifts warmed up the cold day. This day will be talked about in the gypsy community for a long time!
